  • Is my home suitable for solar?

Homes that are ideal for solar panels are those with minimal shading and south-facing roofs, and roofs that tilt between 15 and 40 degrees.

However, if your roof doesn't meet these conditions, you may still be able to implement a solar panel system. To receive a free estimate, simply call or text Elite Electrical Contracting today.

  • How long will it take to install a solar system?

Most installations are complete within 1-4 days. The specific timeline will depend on the size and complexity of the job.

  • How much maintenance do solar panels require?

There is very little maintenance that comes with a solar panel system. You may need to occasionally remove any debris that accumulates on the panels. Otherwise, your solar panels should operate normally for years to come!

  • What happens when the sun isn't shining?

Your solar panels will only generate electricity when the sun is shining. Most homeowners store excess energy in batteries to use at night or on cloudy days. There is also the option to meter your system, which allows you to sell any excess electricity your system generates back to the grid.

  • How much will a solar system cost?

    Cost depends on several factors:

    • Size of the system
    • Equipment you choose
    • Your location

If you’re interested, there are federal and state incentives available to offset the installation cost.

  • How much will I save on my electricity bills?

You will notice a significant reduction in your electricity bill. It’s possible to eliminate your electricity bill all together! Our team will provide an evaluation of the electricity savings you can expect during our initial estimate.

  • What are the environmental benefits of solar energy?

Switching to solar means you’re using a clean, renewable energy source that doesn’t produce greenhouse gases or other pollutants. When you switch to solar, you can help reduce your carbon footprint while protecting the environment.

  • Are there any financial incentives for going solar?

Yes, there are incentives at both the federal and state levels. They include:

    • Low-interest loans are available through Connecticut Green Bank
    • Exempt from Sales Tax: Sales Tax Exempt Form Cert -140 filed to obtain this savings.  Solar will increase the value of your home.  Connecticut will not increase your property taxes with the installation of solar
    • Solar Panel Tax Credit is filed on your federal tax return and offers a credit of 30% of eligible costs
